The Industrial Arbor Shaft Forging is a high-rigidity structural shaft designed for support, alignment, and load-bearing functions in heavy-duty Industrial Equipment. Installed as a core positioning or mandrel shaft, it provides stable concentricity and dimensional control for machining, assembly, and rotational support applications.
Manufactured as a solid forged shaft through Open Die Forging, this component delivers excellent internal soundness, uniform grain flow, and high bending stiffness compared with cast or fabricated alternatives.
Unlike drive shafts or spindle shafts, this arbor shaft is engineered primarily for precision support and alignment rather than torque transmission, making it an essential element in industrial systems where stability and repeatable positioning are critical.
Key Functions in Industrial Equipment
- Provides structural support and precise alignment for workpieces or rotating assemblies
- Maintains concentricity under bending and radial loads
- Serves as a stable mandrel or arbor for machining, pressing, or assembly operations
- Ensures long-term reliability in dust-intensive and heavy-duty industrial environments
Manufacturing & Quality Assurance
The arbor shaft is produced via controlled open die forging, ensuring optimized grain flow along the shaft axis for enhanced rigidity and load-bearing performance. Depending on section geometry, localized Ring Rolling may be applied to reinforce high-stress areas.
The forging typically undergoes pre-Heat Treatment, rough machining, and final quenching and tempering to achieve dimensional stability and minimize distortion.
Quality assurance is embedded throughout the process and includes:
- Material verification and certification
- In-process dimensional inspection
- Heat treatment monitoring
- Ultrasonic testing for internal integrity
- Final CMM inspection to ensure accuracy of Machined Components
This full-process control guarantees consistent mechanical performance and suitability for precision Forgings used in critical industrial applications.
